Following a period of expansion in the education sector, we are looking for an ambitious and meticulous Sales Consultant to join our team in Newcastle upon Tyne.

THE ROLE

Following a period of expansion in the education sector, we are looking for an ambitious and meticulous Sales Consultant to join our team in Newcastle upon Tyne.  

We are looking for someone who will maximise our sales opportunities and close the sale, through high quality client interaction and solution-based selling. 

ION’s Sales Consultant will play a critical role in further driving our expansion in the UK education sector. Reporting to our Head of Commercial and working closely with our Business Development team, you will take partially qualified opportunities and drive them forward, providing regular verbal and written updates to the team so we can accurately forecast sales and plan demand.  

You’ll need to be able to work to deadlines and have excellent communication and negotiation skills, gaining a deep understanding of our clients' needs to provide the best possible solution and the highest chance of success. The role will also involve providing crucial feedback to internal teams regarding customer interactions, informing the future service offer and strategy.  

You will be required to provide excellent customer service, build relationships with customers and always maintain a professional manner.

With vast experience outreaching to customers and articulating value propositions to new clients; you should be an active listener, have a compelling sales personality and a hunger to close business whilst delivering customers the solutions they need.   

We’re one of the top Sage partners in the UK, offering transformative and award-winning product solutions primarily focused on the Education market, so a background in cloud software sales or education would be advantageous, but is not essential. Most importantly, you will have a consultative, customer-centric approach and a proven record of sales excellence.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING:

REQUIRED

  • Solution software sales experience with a consistent track record of achieving/exceeding quota.
  • Experience self-generating new business and the ability to identify, build relationships, and some experience selling into C-Level Suite.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced and high growth business environment
  • Self-driven, high-energy sales with an exceptional business acumen (financial and operational)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with strong executive presence and presentation delivery

DESIRABLE

We don’t need all these things, but they will certainly help.

  • Services domain experience a plus, with an active network of peers and sales prospects
  • Experience of using Salesforce CRM
  • Previous knowledge of finance products
  • Experience working in the Education or Not for Profit sectors
  • Experience of working with automated marketing tools      

WHAT YOU WILL DO NATURALLY:

  • Generate new leads, identify decision-makers, deliver outreach programmes and screen potential business opportunities. 
  • Identify trends, customer needs, and new opportunities, to culminate in the creation of a short, medium, and long-term sales pipeline.  
  • Create a fun and engaging work environment, that brings out the best in those that work around you 
  • Take an active role in the facilitation and development of materials for new business opportunities, including proposals, pricing, and presentations. 
  • Become a subject matter expert on our business products, processes and operations. 
  • Share professional knowledge and industry news, acquired through ongoing education, networking, events, and research. 
  • Identify potential clients in the target market and complete appropriate research on the prospective client's business needs
